Maria Shabashova

Born in Perm, Russia, Maria Shabashova began her musical training at the age of five. She attended the F. Chopin State College in Moscow, where she studied piano with Irina Gabrielova.
She went on to study harpsichord with Olga Filippova, fortepiano with Jury Martunov, and piano with Sergey Glavatskikh at the P.I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow.
In addition to her experience with historical keyboard instruments, she also acquired a wide range of knowledge in continuo performance practices, receiving qualifications as a soloist, ensembles artist and university professor.
Maria Shabashova continued her studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis where she obtained two Master’s degrees: a Master of Arts in specialized music performance for harpsichord in 2014; and a Master of Arts in basso continuo and ensemble conducting in 2017 under the guidance of professors Jörg-Andreas Bötticher (harpsichord, basso continuo) and Andrea Marcon (ensemble conducting).
