Prangins Baroque 2025

6th édition: our project

Every September since 2020, the charming village of Prangins has been preparing to welcome Prangins Baroque, an event that celebrates the extraordinary richness of Baroque music, bringing together internationally renowned mentors and young talent selected by the artistic team.

The festival strives to make early music accessible to all, offering high-quality events in several of the village's most emblematic venues. Since its creation, Prangins Baroque has offered free concerts, which are always sold out.

The festival's local roots play an essential role: the generous financial and logistical support of the municipality of Prangins, the many Prangins residents who volunteer in every aspect of the festival's organisation and welcome the artists into their homes, and the local merchants who enthusiastically help to promote and support our activities. All this makes Prangins Baroque a cultural and social experience in equal measure.

This year's event will be dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach, the giant of baroque music, whose incredible quality, versatility and rich human emotions provide us with an abundant source of inspiration for our work.

The program includes musical visits to the castle of Prangins - Swiss National Museum, activities for young audiences and workshops open to the public. Two concerts will present some of the most extraordinary pieces of instrumental and vocal music in a lively, fresh setting, immersing the audience in the musical world of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Association

Prangins Baroque aims to promote Baroque art in the village of Prangins and surrounding region. In this dynamic community, history is visibly present, with its church and castle dating from the 18th century, that currently houses the Swiss National Museum. These features make Prangins an ideal setting for our association which promotes and celebrates this cultural heritage in an innovative way.

From the beginning of the Prangins Baroque adventure, our goals have been to offer high quality concerts and performances with up-and-coming international professional artists, guided by artists of great renown in the field of Baroque art; to open the rehearsals to the public, so that everyone can appreciate the creative process that is usually unavailable to the public; to offer free concerts, so that Baroque art can remain accessible to the whole population; and weave links among the members of our community by involving them in the organisation. They are present, on a voluntarily basis, in all phases of the project, from the conception to the administration, including communication and hosting of the artists in their homes. In addition, the town of Prangins generously makes its premises available for rehearsals and performances, and the village's shopkeepers provide catering for the artists during the event.
